A filter designed to retain lubricants, emulsions and mists, by the principle of coalescence, which basically consists of having a random network of fibers, which, before air passage, causes drops to form around the fibers, container of accumulation by effect of gravity.
As a consequence of the design of the filter, solid particles can be retained even of a smaller size than those retained by a particulate filter, so it is recommended to install a particulate filter before a coalescing filter to avoid saturation.
These elements are replaced and must be replaced periodically as they become saturated and cause high pressure losses.
